Aimed at building contractors who undertake working
in the public domain (including council houses,
hospitals and offices), the SPA Passport training
programme focuses on duty of care, working with
power tools and hazardous materials, access and
egress and specific occupational safety and health
practices.
This sector-specific Passport training is the product
of a collaboration between SPA and leading building
maintenance clients nationwide, many of whom are
members of the Association for Public Service Excellence
(APSE), who actively promote quality and best practice.
The solution countless organisations have been looking
for, the Passport provides safety assurance for
building maintenance clients, and the peace of mind
that only a common, recognised and validated standard
of training can provide.
Acknowledged by the Health and Safety Executive,
the cost-effective programme drives good practice
through the contractor supply chain, increasing
safety awareness and
contributing to higher standards of safety performance.
The Passport is also fully supported by the training
division of UCATT (Union of Construction, Allied
Trades and Technicians), Britain's only specialist
construction workers' union.
The building maintenance Passport training takes
one day. Trainees must first undergo the core training
- a one-day session that ensures delegates grasp
the basics of general good practice in health, safety
and the environment. A nationwide network of quality
training providers has been selected to deliver
Passport training.
The Safety Pass Alliance work with employers,
employer associations, trade unions, NTOs and other
relevant bodies to design and develop training programmes
tailored to suit each sector.
